Character Application
Characters Name: Batman/Bruce Wayne

Characters LJ: detectivebats

Origin: DC Universe

Backstory: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batman

Character Traits: Cold, calculating, suspicious, paranoid
RP Example: The batcave was dark, quiet, and the only sound was the typing of a computer and the rustle of 10,00 bats. It was the way he liked it. Bruce leaned his head on his hand, elbow nearly slipping of the slick console of the famed bat-computer, while waiting for the application to begin. It was close, very close to finding the signal that Wally--Flash had asked him to find. Instead of asking Alfred to take care of it for him, he decided to make his way back to Gotham and do it himself. Wasn't far when you had your own jet, anyway.
"Query completed. Approx. location--" the computer droned. "--Abandoned warehouse, 54th street and Walkin Ave, Keystone City. Formerly owned by Thomkins and Son Corp."

Bruce typed in something else, signs of lethargy gone.

"Company logo: A question mark."

Perfect. Obvious, but then again, most of the time, it was.

Bruce's handsome face was contorted with concentration, as he typed in something else, and hit a button.

"Wally," he spoke, the computer automatically sending invisible signals through the air.

"I found the location."

Ben Reillyspiderinscarlet on October 3rd, 2005 05:49 pm (UTC)
Character Name: The Scarlet Spider/Ben Reilly
Character's LJ: spiderinscarlet
Origin: Marvel Universe/ First appearance: The Amazing Spider-Man #149
RP Communities: sages_of_chaos, spiderverse

RP example: Ben leaned back in his chair in front of the TV, there was nowhere for him to go, nothing for him to do. Even the city didn't seem to need The Scarlet Spider anymore. As he mused on his life, he got that familiar tingling sensation at the base of his neck. Shooting a glance out the window, he watched the rain pouring down. Then, suddenly, an explosion rocked the building, far off a huge fire sprang up.

Leaping out of the chair, he pulled off his clothes revealing his costume beneath. Then, pulling on his mask, he jumped out the window. Firing his web shooters, he swung off towards the destruction.

agreenlantern on October 4th, 2005 04:40 am (UTC)
Characters Name: Kyle Rayner/Green Lantern
Characters LJ: agreenlantern
Origin: DC
Backstory: Here
Character Traits: Creative, hard on himself, imaginative, talkative, artistic
RP Example:

The dog would not stop barking.

"For the love of mike, will you shut up!" There was a flash of green and the dog started whining, as a giant green sasquach had appeared on his neighbor's fire escape, where that idiot poodle had been yapping on all day.

"Baby? My baby Dumpkins!"

Guiltily, Kyle slinked back into his apartment, the sasquach dissapeared and all that could be heard was the terrified whines of the dog. It's not like the poodle could smell the construct, he thought, though pleased with himself at the convient use of the ring. He walked back on over to his desk and put his earphones back on and sighed, weary from the incessant noises of the apartment. Like that dog barking. His hand moved quickly over a white piece of paper, as he went back to work. It was different now, his art had changed from...well, before he became the Green Lantern. It had been sort of...bland, Kyle had to admit. Good, but just not...spicy, as it was now. His friends said his cartoons were funnier, his caractures more witty...the old brain was being put to good use with the whole construct thing.

Re: Application for Flash of the DCU Pt 2
sages_of_chaos*

RP Example:I think I've given Babs enough time with her little "date" I think it's about time I go over and make sure she gets her butt up to the watchtower. She's a stubborn girl, I know, but I'm sure given the circumstances she'll forgive me.

And... if she doesn't go? I'm gunna make Dick make her go. That boy's always been good about getting her to do things that she seems to turn her nose up to.

Batman and I had a nice little chat regarding the chips that I pulled off those zoo monkeys the other day. The look in Bats' eyes was.... indescribable. I'm not sure if he's pissed off or... confused, surprised or what-- then again I never really could tell with him. I guess that's onoe of his things he does so well.

Hides his emotion.....

That's not always a good thing either. I wonder if he knows that...

Taking off in a blurr of scarlet and red, I'm racing to check off a few leads with this monkey-chip thing. It's.... weird. I know Grodd likes to tease me from time to time by throwing his clockwork monkeys out at me, but something's just not adding up.

Like that note for instance. That made no sense! I mean, in Grodd's case. If he were going to leave me a note, he'd be to a point and wouldn't beat around the bush. He's not the type to do that... which leads me to believe he's working with someone. And just watch-- I'm going to be right about this in some form or another. I know my rogues too well. I may not be able to predict what they have in store for me for eternal torment, but still-- I know how they work.

The first place I check are the few "labs" that I know Grodd likes to frequent. Even running into one of his old goons as I go along.

"So you gunna tell me where your monkey friend is?"

The man's name is Murdoc. Doc Murdoc to his pals. His a short, fat balding little man who looks as if he never was able to get a date in high school. "Nuh-- No--"

"You wouldn't be lying to me, would ya pal?" I give him a witty smile and brush a bit of lint off his shoulder. "Because....you're gunna be in deep do-do too in the end because I know--"

He shook his head frantically. "NO!! No I'm not because he's not here!! He has not been here in two weeks!"

Ah-ha. Seems if you squeeze the orange hard enough juice'll come out. "He WAS here then? Two weeks ago?"

"Yes. He took one of the weapons he stashed here. He did not seem like himself one bit?"

I raised an eyebrow. "What do ya mean, Doc?"

"He seemed..... robotic. He never answered me when I spoke to him, just picked up his weapon and took off."

"What kind of weapon was it?"

Murdoc looked away and rubbed at his hands nervously. "Ummm..... well--"

"C'mon DOC. I don't got all day. Tell me now and I'll go easy on ya."

"Well.... it was a anti-matter beam. Though, I do not understand what in the world he would be using it for!"

Hmm. Curiouser and curiouser. Things were just getting better. "Oh... I can think of a few things." I murmured. "Did he say where he was going with it?"

"No. I told you. He said nothing to me when I spoke."

I nodded and gave him a pat on the back. "Thanks, man. We'll keep in touch should I have any more questions. Don't go running off and hiding somewhere."

"Oh... I.. have no plans on it, Mr. Flash!"

Good.

Hmm... I guess taking that little trip was worth it. My puzzle pieces are still having a hard time piecing together. Hopefully I'll be able to get something from Bruce after he finishes tracing those signals from the chips....

Ah well. Off to Gotham.

Robin: Current Teen Wonder..._robin_3 on October 5th, 2005 01:24 am (UTC)
Character's Name: Robin/Tim Drake

Character's LJ: _robin_3

Origin: DC Universe

Backstory: http://www.titanstower.com/source/whoswho/robin3.html

I considered myself to be a patient hero, and could learn from my elders, but there were times in which I knew I'd have to handle missions on my own-without help from my mentors.

Not easy since I had two of them, and they were both protectors of nearby cities. As for me? I went from one to the other, helping out whenever I was needed.

That must've been why I was eager for patrol this evening. The chance to get out and do some good. (laughs lightly)

Watch yourself, Teen Wonder-starting to sound a little like Bart, and you don't need that. (clears throat)

Focused on what I had to do, and ready to handle any foes daring to come my way, I leaped from the building I was perched on and fired a grapple, grinning faintly as it connected.

This Robin was flying high, and he wasn't coming down anytime soon...!

((OOC: This is yet another one of detectivebats's characters ^__^))

Characters Name: Terry McGinnis/Batman (Beyond)
Characters LJ: batbeyond
Origin: DC/WB cartoon series
Backstory: Here
Character Traits: funny, always wanting to prove himself to be like Bruce, in danger of becoming cold and dark like him, but has a much brighter view on life
RP Example:

Living in Wayne manor had its advantages. Sure, there was always the chance that the old man could call for something at any hour, but then again, when could Terry ever afford to live like this? He usually liked to go downstairs, to the garage, and fix up one of the old gas-guzzlers. Sure, they were pretty archaic, but there was something satisfying about the roar of a piston motor, instead of the usual boring hum of the more normal hydrogen or electric ones.

It was Father’s day, and even though he knew he should be thinking about his real father, his thoughts kept going back to Bruce. The man had taught him an insane amount of things he would never have even dreamed of knowing, and helped him out in more ways that no other person could have ever done. He gave him the means to deal justice on criminals, in a way, avenging his real father.

Looking out his bedroom window, the skies were bleak and the wind was cold, for June. An icy breeze blew past his black hair, ruffling it around. He leaned out, looking at the deserted driveway. No one ever came, not even his mother, who still assumed he was simply an aide for the old man. He had once invited his brother over, but the kid, in some weird rebellious teenage stage, refused. Terry felt sorry for the kid sometimes, but of course, had way too much to as Batman, and never had time to visit. They still lived in the same small place, too.

He wore a plain black t-shirt with blue jeans, black being a favorite color nowadays, and let the cool breeze refresh him. It had been a long night, one of many on end. Sometimes the days just ran together. When was the last time he had gotten out, not as Batman, but as himself? It was too long ago to remember. If he was younger, he would tell himself to chill out and go play around with friends or something, but he wasn’t younger. He had responsibilities. And no friends.

Terry totally understood where Bruce was coming from, being this old and by himself. With a slight half-grin, he thought that he was probably more than halfway on his way to becoming a hermit.

“Will you ever have time for yourself, McGinnis?” he randomly said to himself, as he stretched, and closed the old-fashioned windows. The answer was no, of course. The city’s well-being was more important than a trip to the movies or a chat with old college buddies. (What college buddies? He had rarely gone to class as it was.)

Sometimes he wondered if he would be the only one who cared, the only person who stood up against evil and the like. It would be nice, he supposed, as he walked out of his rather large bedroom (apartment-size, thanks to Bruce) if it was like the old days. Bruce often talked about the bat-family, from the Robins to the Batgirls. But he didn’t now if he could just trust any old person who wanted a sidekick job. It would definitely help, for one thing. But Bruce wasn’t a trusting person, and it rubbed off on Terry immensely.

With a wry grin, as he walked down the stairs, he wondered if he was more like Wayne’s son than simply his pupil.
